The soft and dusty brick red color of our 2019 Sangiovese invites one to savor aromas of under ripe plum and red cherry with notes of smoke and earth. On the palate we are greeted by a smooth and soft mouthfeel with gentle flavors of ripe black cherries and raspberries backed by notes of red licorice, coffee and cocoa. This food friendly ‘Washington Brunello’ continues to show balance with lingering cherry and raspberry flavors wrapped in savory notes of oak barrel.
Picked while the acids were still bright and ripeness was just coming on, the grapes were fermented in oak and stainless steel fermenters to combine depth with freshness. Bright cherry and plum overlays a savory core of flavor. Barrels with a natural bacon note were chosen to enhance the savory potential in the wine.
Pair with Pecorino Cheese, grilled smoked pork tenderloin with chanterelle demi-glace or rich pancetta Carbonara.
