2017 Syrah: Picked in October and destemmed to enhance the natural red fruit of this vineyard block. This wine undertook a very long and slow fermentation which brought out a remarkable array of aromas. These aromas include jasmine, lily, white pepper, dried Mission figs, ripe Italian plums, and huckleberry. On the palate, find tart apple, bacon fat, smoke, and dried porcini making it a perfect companion to pancetta, miso marinated black cod, grilled spare ribs, and bacon wrapped mushrooms.
2018 Syrah: An explosion of flavor with a silky texture and the deep red color causes anticipation of a big full bodied wine. Fermented with 25% whole cluster berries to enhance fruit and complexity. At first sip, we are greeted by soft and warming aromas of brioche, ripe raspberries, black plums, cigar box and rose petals. On the palate find round yet powerful flavors of smokey black fruits with notes of black pepper, anise and a touch of ripe bell pepper. The finish returns us to the soft and warm with lingering flavors of over ripe strawberries and toffee surrounded by smooth and persistent tannins in concert with refreshing and ageworthy acidity.
2019 Syrah: A dense, smokey ruby red and offers aromas of blueberry, raspberry compote, anise and a heady herbaceousness with notes of uncured bacon. On the palate the mouthfeel is warm and welcoming. Find rich flavors of raspberry, black plum and blackberry with notes of cocoa and white pepper. Though the tannins are smooth and soft the finish is concise as the pleasing acidity invites another sip.
