Riesling is one of the most noble and versatile white wines in the world, and even in the planning for our new winery it was clear to Ben, our winemaker, that this variety would play an important part in our program.  The grapes for our 2015 Riesling came from the Sunnyside vineyard in the Willamette Valley south of Salem; this vineyard is certified by SIP (Sustainability In Practice) and Salmon-Safe.  The cool climate of this site at 630 feet elevation, along with its volcanic Jory and Nekia soils and southwest sloping aspect, make it an outstanding site for finely structured Riesling.

From the beginning, our goal has been to make Pacific Northwest wines that pair well with local foods from around Port Townsend, and Riesling is one of our favorite food matches for so many of the wonderful seafood, cheese, vegetable and meat products from our region.  Our 2015 Riesling’s aromatic citrus and spice notes, as well as its natural acidity, complement everything from Penn Cove mussels and local oysters to creamy cheeses, pork dishes and sausage.
